La Donna Moderna was lucky enough to score one of Birchwood Design‘s, Freshwood Stools as part of our launch competition prize pool, and in case you hadn’t noticed, they are a beautifully designed, and well made.

Established in early 2007 by designer Chris Birch, Birchwood Design is a furniture,  product design, and manufacturing studio based in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Birchwood Design specialises in the design, and production of high quality timber furniture, and cabinetry, for both residential, and commercial environments.  They are developing their own range of designer furniture products, like the Forestwood Stools, and Old Brown Benches, all of which incorporate both meticulous design, and quality craftsmanship.

They regularly work with both private clients, and industry professionals to design, and craft, custom made furniture and cabinetry, to suit both residential and commercial interiors.  All of their products are made with the highest quality materials, to exacting standards.

The products highlighted on the Birchwood Design website are simple, yet gorgeous statement pieces for any home.  I particularly love the Toi Toi Coatstands, which really do reflect amazing design, it really captures a kiwi feel – while remaining functional, and aesthetically pleasing.

Birchwood design is yet another example of the high standards of kiwi design, and workmanship.  We need to support our local design studios, so we can see more thriving businesses like Birchwood.  If you wish to discuss a custom designed piece with Chris, contact details can be found on the Birchwood Design website.  You can also find Birchwood Design on Facebook.
