Hi everyone, I’m Michelle from The Design Chaser. It’s so lovely to be here. Big thanks to the girls from La Donna Moderna for having me! As an interiors blogger I write about great design from NZ and around the world. I’m a huge lover of Scandinavian style so I thought I’d share some examples with you today, with a focus on living rooms.
Kicking off with one of my favourite living rooms of the past year, this is the home of Swedish stylist Lotta Agaton, photographed by Pia Ulin for Residence magazine. Undoubtedly Scandinavian in style, Lotta has struck the perfect balance by combining a monochrome palette with earthy tones and textures. Black and white is livened up with greenery in the form of glass objects and plants. Wood, leather and sheepskin add further layers of warmth and cosiness while quirky pieces and personal treasures add character, making it homely and inviting.
Here are a few more favourites.
Drawing inspiration from the images above, I’ve put together a collection of beautiful Scandi style furniture and homewares that I’m coveting right now. There’s lots of black, white and grey, striking prints, leather, wood, sheepskin and a touch of metallic. While there are some big ticket design pieces that I dream of owning such as the Flos 265 lamp, Pia Wallen Cross Blanket and pair of Børge Mogensen Spanish Chairs, I’ve also included some gorgeous products sourced from local online stores Let Liv, The Minimalist and Freedom Furniture. The pallet table is an easy DIY project or you could buy one like the one below and paint it white!
