Thankful Thursday

I am still a relatively new school mum with my five year old starting school at the end of last year, (In NZ children start school around the time they turn five, no matter what time of year it is.) so I feel like I am learning the process along side my boy. It hasn’t all been smooth sailing though and all of us have had our big ups and BIG downs, but one thing that has made it all an awesome experience is my son’s teacher. I’m not sure if we have just hit the jackpot here but she just seems to go above and beyond to make sure EVERYONE is happy.

I have so much admiration for teachers in general and have toyed with the idea of doing a Diploma of Education from time to time. My favourite teacher at high school was my art teacher, Mrs Buddle. I remember art lessons to be so inspiring and fun and she treated us like equals, not just students. I graduated over 20 years ago but I believe she is still teaching at my old school in Hobart, Tasmania. About 10 years ago while living and travelling overseas, one of my bestest school friends, Sarah, and I sent her a postcard from the Pompidou Centre in Paris after viewing Marcel Duchamp‘s Fountain. We were so excited to see all these famous artworks she had introduced us to that we just had to share it with her. I still don’t know if she ever received it?

Me and my mate Sarah – I’m the one in the white… aren’t I cool!

So for today’s Thankful Thursday I am thankful for all the amazing teachers who not only taught and inspired me, but also those now teaching my children. You really are awesome! Especially in New Zealand at present with the Novopay debacle where some teachers have not been paid for weeks or months on end. Thank you for all you do.

Did or do you have an inspiring teacher in your life? We’d love to hear about them.

FREE PRINTABLE in celebration of teachers!

Yes I take off my hat to all the great teachers out there. I trained as a teacher and I have to say, I couldn’t do it!

I am an Early Childhood Teacher, and love being a teacher. I hope that even though I am teaching under fives, that I am inspiring them. I love playing with them and think that learning through play is essential for children.

I must look up more on the educational system in NZ, sounds interesting.

I have very fond memories of my good teachers. My English Lit teacher wa a one in a million, so quirky! I also have memories of terrible teachers and wonder why they were there. My mum was a teacher and worked so hard. They go above and beyond! Thanks for linking up xxxx
