Six Barrel Soda Co. – Soda Syrup

Six Barrel Soda Co. Raspberry and Lemon Soda Syrup.

I was lucky enough to receive a beautiful bottle of Six Barrel Soda Co.‘s Raspberry and Lemon soda syrup recently.  This beautiful syrup contains NO artificial nasties, the sugar in it, is Organic cane sugar, and it’s so natural that it even has a hand-written use by date (I loved that little touch).

The small batches of syrup are made in Wellington with filtered water, fair trade organic cane sugar, fresh fruit, spices & nuts. When mixed with soda, or sparkling water they make fresh real sodas.

I tried the Raspberry and Lemon flavour, and was pleasantly surprised by how very refreshing it was, while still tasting like a sweet soda, perhaps not AS sweet as store brought soda, but I found that was what I liked about it, it wasn’t sickly sweet.  You could taste the raspberry and lemon undertones, and a touch of spice.  I think it would be perfect on it’s own with a slice of lemon, and sprig of mint.  Or you could add it to a summer punch, or cocktail to spice it up.

The current flavours available are kola nut, lemon, cherry & pomegranate, raspberry & lemon, lime, vanilla cream and ginger. Six Barrel Soda Co. will also be releasing new flavours according to seasonality of ingredients (YAY for using in-season produce, for a low carbon footprint!)

This would be a great treat for kids whose parents prefer not to let their children drink the usual white sugar, and additive laden fizzy drinks, so a great idea for kids parties as well.

I can’t wait to try some of the other flavours available, especially the vanilla cream, and ginger.  This is definitely a new favourite in our house – check out the website for stockists, and become a fan of the facebook page to keep up to date with the latest flavours.
