Kiwi Label Summer Previews – Part 1

Fashion insider Miranda Likeman comments on the upcoming summer collections of four kiwi labels and tells you which label is best for which woman…

When I started in the fashion industry, which was late in life, I didn’t know anything about kiwi labels at all. I wished that someone would breakdown what was going on in the fashion industry to someone who liked to be kept in the loop, after she knew what the loop was. That is what I am going to attempt to do with collection columns such as the one below.  Your feedback is welcomed.

In KIWI LABEL SUMMER PREVIEWS PART 1, I will be looking at the upcoming summer collections from four Kiwi fashion labels, suggest which label suits the type of woman you are, and what they have in store for you in the warmer months to come.

I have dealt with Loobie’s Story, and it is a great label for women who want to make an easy yet stylish statement. Fabrics are dominated by the breezy and floaty, and the collections, punctuated by staples, make for a sophisticated wardrobe for work or play.  Their summer range is reliably full of vibrant colours and prints, inspired by Bali’s lush tropical backdrops. The label can be found in a store near you, check their website for stockists.

I would recommend Loobies Story to: The working mother with a free spirit and a desire to be remembered for classical style.

Now I have to admit that I know very little about STORM except for their long term dressing of television presenters. So to say smart casual, professional clothes. Looking over this collection, I can see they are sticking to their knitting with a collection offering minimalist sophistication with an edge.

I would recommend STORM to: The professional woman with the need for a sophisticated working wardrobe with the occasional statement piece.

Ketzke1 Ketzke2

I have worked with and on Ketz-ke since its beginning – but I say to you without bias, you can’t find a better label for, simply, everyone. There is always something in a Ketz-ke collection that is essential to your staple, classic, working, casual, cocktail and winter wardrobe, no matter who you are. You could be a young woman hitting the town in her black label dresses, a hipster hitting the markets on the weekend, an athletic woman hitting the beaches for a walk, or the woman who at any age wants something that people will comment on at an affordable price, Ketz-ke is for you. You can find it most anywhere, and they have a lot of online stockists too. I still have every item of Ketz-ke I have ever owned, and love those items with a passion only a fellow label lover will grow to understand.

I would recommend Ketz-ke to: Simply any woman. Editors pick!

Again I have to confess that I know little about this label, but from what I have heard it is a great New Zealand success story, as all of these labels listed here are. This summer they are going for a resort feel with a fresh approach.

I would recommend Augustine to: The woman after a smart casual wardrobe that still hints at individuality.

Miranda Likeman has been every kind of journalist you could name. At present she writes mostly about fashion and beauty, subjects on which she has much experience, but not in a stuffy inaccessible way. She loves a bargain and making the affordable look expensive.
